Pharmacist Abroad — US / UK / Canada / Australia Licensure

The pathSkills

Foreign licensure in Western markets — a dominant aspiration and the most underestimated path. US (FPGEE→NAPLEX): ~$1,500 in exam/eval fees, 2–3 years, but 1,500 mandatory internship hours are visa-gated and US pharmacies rarely sponsor foreign interns. UK (OSPAP): a compulsory 1-year university conversion costing ₹18–25L (₹35L with living costs). Canada (PEBC): ~₹2.7L in fees over 1.5–2.5 years; the OSCE trips up many on first attempt. Australia (OPRA, replaced KAPS): ~₹1.8–2L, 1–2 years, internships often mean regional relocation. The Indian 6-year Pharm.D satisfies US 5-year-curriculum rules — an edge over B.Pharm — but immigration, not exams, is where most plans stall.

The steps in this path

Common questions

False. The US market is saturated with domestic Pharm.D graduates. You must pass the FPGEE, complete 1,500+ internship hours, and pass NAPLEX — and the internship is the failure point: US retail pharmacies rarely sponsor visas for foreign interns, making the pathway a dead end for many.
