Research Assistant — government institutions

The pathSkills

These are project-based research jobs in government science institutions — ICMR, CSIR labs, DBT-funded projects, AIIMS/PGIMER, and universities. You work under a principal investigator on funded research. The pay is a fixed stipend, not a pay-scale salary, and the job lasts only as long as the project — it can be renewed but is not permanent, much like the IPC PvPI associate jobs. Most posts need a postgraduate degree. The role usually leads to senior research, a PhD, or a scientist job, rather than being a settled career on its own.

Common questions

Usually not for this role. Most posts need a first-class postgraduate degree like an M.Pharm or M.Sc. With only a B.Pharm, you usually qualify for lower Project-Assistant jobs, not this one. GPAT, GATE, NET, or ICMR-DHR BRET is often preferred too.
